Official Venue City for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games
The City of Richmond is an official Venue City for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Richmond will be home to the long track speed skating competition during the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
The speed skating competition will be held at the new Richmond Olympic Oval, which opened last year. Twelve medal events will be held at the Oval over a 14-day period from February 13 to 27, 2010 and 36 medals are to be awarded.

Richmond O Zone The City has planned a spectacular celebration for 2010. As an official Celebration Site for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, Richmond's O Zone will overflow with energy and excitement every one of the 17 days.
The O Zone will be conveniently located in the heart of Richmond's City Centre, a few minutes walk from the new Canada Line rapid transit system (Richmond-Brighouse Station). Flowing throughout the Minoru Civic Precinct, from Richmond City Hall's Meeting House and public plaza through to the Richmond Cultural Centre and adjoining civic facilities and into Minoru Park, this family friendly event will provide an exciting, inclusive and unique Olympic Winter Games experience for Richmond citizens, Canadians and international visitors from around the world.
An international destination, the O Zone will feature multicultural programming, headliner entertainment, interactive art and activities, a unique outdoor skating facility, food and beverage stations.
